Counseling for children, families, & individuals

When a place or state of mind is peaceful, quiet and serene, it is tranquil. Like a pond with no ripples, tranquil means calm and placid. A pleasant state of mind, with nothing to agitate or cause anxiety, can also be considered tranquil

Welcome

Amber Baugnet, a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2013

Not feeling like yourself lately? The decision to seek help can be difficult but it can also be life-changing. People come to therapy when they are struggling in their lives, and the things they have tried aren’t working anymore.

My belief is that you are the expert of you, and my role is to assist you on your path in becoming a happier, healthier person. Your treatment will be a collaborative process and you will be in the driver's seat.

The way you are feeling is a result of multiple factors and I will help you explore and work through those factors one by one. It is important to me to be real and authentic in therapy as I feel this is key to being effective and genuinely present for clients.  It is such an honor for me to have someone come into my office and share the things they have been through.

I use  a variety of evidence-based therapy approaches that really see results. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) as my primary therapy approach, and specialize in TF-CBT.  Trauma Focused CBT is used with clients who have survived traumatic experiences and for other select issues. I also rely on solution focused and family systems approaches at times.  In addition, I have studied and use art and play in therapy sessions.

My Approach

I’ve worked extensively with children, teens, and their families who present with a variety of complex issues, but also work with individuals of all ages. I have experience helping with issues such as trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, behavioral issues, anger management, suicidal ideation/self-harm and parent skill building.

I am a graduate of Carson Newman college of Jefferson City, TN., where I obtained my master's degree in counseling. I have a background in outpatient therapy, residential treatment services for children and adolescents, school-based therapy, and in-home therapy.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, and doing anything outdoors (camping, fishing, hiking, kayaking, gardening etc.). I believe nature and animals are therapeutic in their own way. I enjoy time with all my crazy pets (2 dogs, 4 cats, and chickens). Other hobbies I have are Arts and crafts.
